We are now open and will begin accepting clothing donations at 1730 University. Our hours this year will remain the same for seeing students... Tues. to Fri. 9am... last student seen at 12:15pm. Any APS student from Kindergarten to 12th will be seen that is in need of clothing to go to school, simply talk to your counselor at your school to begin the process. We are always in need of in-kind gently used clothing as well as financial donations. We also take toys, books, school supplies, and personal hygiene items. A seventh grader... wearing the same clothes for the fifth day in a row, can't concentrate on her teacher’s lecture because of the pointed stares of other students. She skips the rest of her classes. A first grader... doesn't go to school because his parents can't afford the school uniform. When he finally attends class, he is behind in his reading and never catches up. A kindergartner... walks to school without a coat on a bitterly cold January morning. He arrives at class shivering uncontrollably. With your assistance, we can ensure that these stories are no longer a reality for Albuquerque students. For over 50 years, the Clothing Bank has provided clothing and uniforms to Albuquerque Public School students in need. We are a non-profit organization sponsored by the Bernalillo County Council of the PTA. |
